The United States has deep disagreements with China over its human rights record, US Vice President Joe Biden said on Monday.
At the opening of the two-day meetings between China and the US in Washington, both Biden and US Secretary of State Clinton expressed their concern about the blows that China is making to dissidents.
Biden stressed that his country will continue to raise the issues of activists, human rights lawyers, journalists and imprisoned artists in meetings with China.
Chinese authorities, worried about any possible impact of developments in the Middle East, have detained dozens of dissidents in recent months.
